Frequently asked questions

Choosing a photographer for your dog is a personal decision,
and it's natural to have questions. Here you'll find answers to some of the things I'm most often asked. If there's anything
you'd like to know that isn't covered here, I'd be delighted to
hear from you.

Where do sessions take place?

I offer photography sessions at a selection of beautiful outdoor locations, including Black Park in Buckinghamshire and The Walled Garden at Dorney. I also welcome clients to my private Garden Studio in Slough, a peaceful setting designed for relaxed portraits.

If there's a location that holds special meaning for you and your dog, I'd be happy to discuss creating your session there too.

How long does a session last?

Most sessions last between 60 and 90 minutes. Rather than watching the clock, I work at your dog's pace, allowing plenty of time for them to settle, explore and feel comfortable.

The most natural photographs happen when there's no rush.

Can I be in the photographs too?

Absolutely.

Some of the most treasured photographs are the ones that include both you and your dog. My approach is relaxed and natural, so there's no pressure to pose or feel self-conscious. I'll gently guide you, creating images that reflect the connection you share.

What should I wear?

I always recommend choosing clothing that feels comfortable and reflects your personal style.

Soft, neutral colours tend to photograph beautifully and help keep the focus on you and your dog. Once your session is booked, I'll send guidance to help you choose outfits that work well with the location and season.

When will I see my photographs?

After your session, you'll be invited to a private viewing appointment where you'll see a carefully edited collection of your images.

This is one of my favourite parts of the experience, seeing your dog's personality come to life through the photographs and helping you choose the images you'd most like to enjoy and display.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes.

A photography experience makes a thoughtful gift for any dog lover and can be personalised for birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas or other special occasions.

If you'd like to arrange a gift voucher, simply get in touch and I'll be happy to help.

Can collars, leads or harnesses be removed?

Leads and simple collars can often be removed during editing.

Harnesses are usually more visible and can be more difficult to remove convincingly. For the cleanest results, I recommend walking your dog in their usual harness and, if they're comfortable, switching to a simple collar when photographs are being taken.

My dog won't sit still. Can you still photograph them?

Of course.

Most dogs aren't interested in sitting perfectly still, and they don't need to. My sessions are designed around your dog's personality, whether they're energetic, curious, playful or constantly on the move.

With patience, experience and plenty of treats, we'll capture beautiful moments naturally.

My dog needs to stay on a lead. Is that okay?

Absolutely. Your dog's safety always comes first.

Many of the dogs I photograph remain on a lead throughout their session. Where appropriate, I can carefully remove leads from selected images during the editing process, creating a natural finished photograph while keeping your dog safe at all times.

My dog is nervous, excitable or older. Can they still have a session?

Without question.

Every dog is different, and I tailor each session to suit their individual personality and needs. Whether your dog is full of energy, prefers a slower pace, or simply needs a little extra patience, we'll create an experience that feels comfortable for them.

Some of my favourite photographs have come from dogs whose owners initially worried they wouldn't be suitable for a session.
